CHALLENGES
India and Africa present both an unique set of challenges and several problems common to both including but not limited to: access to startup or growth capital, underdeveloped infrastructure and a digital skills gap.
OPPORTUNITIES
The Indian market alone represents over 1.5 billion people. There are currently over 20,000 startups with approximately 10,500 tech startups projected by the end of 2020. There are estimated to be 42.5MM SMEs, which collectively produce over 6,000 different types of products and represent 45% of India’s GDP, with an annual growth rate of 11.5%.
With a population of approximately 1.3 billion people, which is predicted to double over the next 25 years, the various African markets collectively represent unprecedented market potential. Africa has had two successive record-breaking years for startup funding, with the rapid growth of technology ecosystems across Africa. SMEs account for nearly 90% of all businesses in Africa.
As more people around the world are becoming more prosperous, these markets are benefiting from increasing demand, new consumer classes and more disposable income than ever before. The confluence of these factors provides fertile ground for high-growth investment opportunities.
